Unified Saint John

A group of eight small housing co-operatives in Saint John merged to form the Unified Saint John Housing Co-operative in January 2016.

These eight co-ops were developed through a number of funding programs between 1981 and 1985 and included the following co-op’s:

  • City Centre
  • Heatherway
  • High Meadow Park
  • Jenny’s Spring
  • Lower Cove
  • North End Family
  • South City
  • Wright Street

On January 1, 2018 Neighbourhood Housing Co-op, the ninth co-op in Saint John joined USJ.

In 2021, we successfully completed our first expansion when we constructed a new 12-unit building.

USJ now consists of 294 co op homes of various sizes (from one, two, three and four bedroom apartments to townhomes and single family dwellings) scattered throughout the city of Saint John.

USJ plans to continue to grow and develop new co-operative homes.
